CDL Driver & Equipment Operator

The CDL Driver & Equipment Operator is responsible for proper, efficient, and timely completion of site work and various construction projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Monitors assigned crews to ensure duties are accomplished accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinates field crew operations by communicating day to day issues and tasks completed to office personnel.
  • Operation and basic maintenance of skid steers and mini-excavators and other heavy equipment.
  • Installation of irrigation and landscape lighting systems.
  • Operation and basic maintenance of brick saws, chainsaws, demo hammers, etc.
  • Coordinates with subcontractors and suppliers for project completion.
  • Ensures that work is being done in a safe and efficient manner and maintains excellent quality.
  • Ensures proper use and safe keeping of company resources and equipment.
  • Review daily progress and needs of the next day with the supervisor.
  • Perform safety checks of brakes, steering column, lights, and mirrors prior to each leg of journey to ensure road readiness.
  • Follow and maintain loading protocols, using chains and binders to secure cargo and re-checking their stability throughout trips.
  • Inspect trailers before and after loading, paying attention to status of air lines and jack positions and adjusting them as necessary.
  • Assist in unloading cargo when delivery sites are understaffed, maintaining product quality throughout conveyance.
  • Adhere to traffic safety regulations at all times, exercise caution in treacherous circumstances and report unsafe vehicle or road conditions to supervisors and highway authorities.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly dig with picks and shovels, move wheelbarrows full of material, sit, stand, stoop, lift up to 60 pounds on a regular basis and 100 + pounds with the help of others.
